Moldavite is a rare green tektite formed from a meteorite impact in southern Germany about 15 million years ago. Found primarily in the Czech Republic, this natural glass has a distinct wrinkled or etched surface and varies in color from deep forest green to olive or brownish-green. With a Mohs hardness of 5.5 to 7, it is relatively durable but should be handled with care to prevent chipping. Due to its unique origin and limited supply, moldavite is highly valued by collectors and gem enthusiasts.
