Seraphinite is a trade name for a deep green, chatoyant variety of clinochlore, a mineral in the chlorite group. It is characterized by its feathery, silver-white inclusions that create a shimmering effect, resembling angelic wings, which is how it got its name. Seraphinite has a Mohs hardness of 2 to 4, making it relatively soft and best suited for carvings and decorative use rather than everyday jewelry. It is primarily found in eastern Siberia, Russia, particularly in the Lake Baikal region.
