Preseli Bluestone is a type of dolerite, a medium-grained igneous rock, found in the Preseli Hills of Wales, UK. It is most famous for being the primary material used in the inner circle of Stonehenge. This rock is rich in plagioclase feldspar and pyroxene, giving it a speckled blue-gray appearance with occasional white quartz inclusions. Preseli Bluestone has a Mohs hardness of approximately 6 to 7, making it relatively durable. It is geologically significant due to its connection to prehistoric monument construction and its unique mineral composition.
