Archangel Saint Michael Defeating Lucifer | Cold-Cast Bronze 14.5" Statuary

Different hierarchies of angels are put forth at different points in Scripture, but in Michael’s case the title “archangel” is a sign of his power and his particular closeness to God.  Michael’s main attributes are that of a heavenly warrior and protector. One of the strongest traditions about Michael is that he cast Satan and other fallen angels from heaven at some point early in Creation.

This Michael is a representation of the famous painting by Guido Reni in 1636, which is also the altarpiece for the first chapel in Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini. It depicts the moment in the Book of Revelations when Saint Michael slays The Dragon, or Lucifer, and casts him down to Earth.
