Rainbow Moonstone is a variety of feldspar known for its iridescent sheen, displaying flashes of blue, purple, and other colors when light interacts with its surface. This optical effect, called adularescence, gives the stone a glowing, ethereal appearance. Though often associated with traditional moonstone, rainbow moonstone is technically a form of white labradorite, another member of the feldspar family. It is typically found in India, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, and Canada and is commonly used in jewelry, carvings, and decorative pieces. With a hardness of 6–6.5 on the Mohs scale, it is relatively durable but should be handled with care to avoid scratches or fractures.
