Golden Rutile Quartz is a combination of Clear or Smokey Quartz, a silicon dioxide mineral with a hardness of 7, with inclusions of Rutile, a titanium oxide mineral with a hardness of 6 to 6.5. The crystal system of Quartz is hexagonal (trigonal), and that of Rutile is tetragonal. The Rutile inclusions usually look like long metallic needles or hairs, and they can be gold, silver, or copper colored. The Quartz can occur in massive form or prismatic crystals.
