Star Aragonite | Small Rough Clusters

  • $14.00

Star aragonite is a crystallized form of aragonite, a calcium carbonate mineral (CaCO₃) that forms under low-temperature conditions. It is named for its star-like or radiating crystal formations, which often appear as clusters of elongated, needle-like crystals. This mineral is commonly found in sedimentary environments, hot springs, and caves, where it can form stalactites and other carbonate structures. Major sources include Spain, Morocco, and Mexico. Aragonite is polymorphic with calcite, meaning they share the same chemical composition but have different crystal structures. It has a Mohs hardness of 3.5 to 4, making it relatively soft and susceptible to scratching.

Localities: Spain, Morocco, and Mexico

Rarity: Moderate

Hardness: 3.5 - 4
