Yellow aragonite is a calcium carbonate mineral (CaCO₃) that forms in sedimentary and hydrothermal environments. It is a variation of aragonite distinguished by its yellow to golden hues, caused by trace impurities. Like other forms of aragonite, it has a Mohs hardness of 3.5 to 4, making it relatively soft and prone to scratching. Yellow aragonite often forms in needle-like, radiating crystal clusters and is found in caves, hot springs, and marine environments. Major sources include Spain, Morocco, Mexico, and Peru.
