Rainbow Moonstone | Tumbled

  • $4.00

Rainbow moonstone is a variety of labradorite feldspar that exhibits a phenomenon called adularescence, displaying a shimmering, multicolored glow, often in blue, when light interacts with its internal structure. Despite its name, it is not a true moonstone, which belongs to the orthoclase feldspar group. It has a Mohs hardness of 6 to 6.5, making it moderately durable but sensitive to pressure and scratching. Rainbow moonstone is found in India, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, and Australia and is commonly used in jewelry and ornamental carvings.

Localities: India, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, and Australia

Rarity: Common

Hardness: 6 - 6.5
