Chrysocolla has a Mohs hardness of 2 to 4, making it relatively soft and fragile. It is often used as a gemstone or ornamental stone but is sometimes stabilized for durability. Major sources include the United States (Arizona, New Mexico), Peru, Chile, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Israel.
